NASCAR Racing FOX 7:00 pm ET
The great Dale Earnhardt once referred to Darlington Raceway as "a fickle racetrack in South Carolina with a contrary disposition." Even with a face-lift, courtesy of the 58-year-old track's first resurfacing in 13 years, the NASCAR boys expect the historic venue to remain a tough test tonight ... and a faster one because of the smoother pavement. Last year Jeff Gordon employed the race's best pit strategy to pick up his seventh career win here.

An American Crime SHO 9:00 pm ET
One of the most disturbing films of the decade, this 2007 docudrama is not for the squeamish. It tells the horrific true story of 16-year-old Sylvia Likens, who was tortured and killed by caregiver Gertrude Baniszewski, her children and neighbor kids in 1965. Catherine Keener gives a chilling performance as Gertrude, a single mother of seven plagued by health problems and addiction, and Ellen Page is heartbreaking as young Sylvia.

Transformers MAX 10:00 pm ET
The long-popular toys come to life, and quite effectively, in action-specialist director Michael Bay's ("Armageddon") loud and flashy fantasy-adventure. The Autobots and the Decepticons, rival robot factions from another planet, make Earth their battleground while fighting for an object that will give its holders ultimate power. Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox play a young couple caught in the melee; Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and Jon Voight also star.

Superstar COM 6:00 pm ET
Barely tolerable in a 10-minute sketch, Mary Katherine Gallagher (Molly Shannon), arguably the most annoying "Saturday Night Live" character since Pat, is insufferable in a full-length movie. The socially inept, sexually overcharged Catholic schoolgirl tries out for a talent show in hopes of becoming a star and getting a Hollywood-style kiss from the school hunk (Will Ferrell). But before you get there, you have to watch her make out with a tree. Ew.

CSI: Miami CBS 8:00 pm ET
When a police officer says his job is a minefield, he's speaking figuratively, right? Can Detective Tripp (Rex Linn) get back to you on that? In this episode, Tripp is investigating a Cuban refugee's death by land mine when he steps on one himself. Caine (David Caruso) and the bomb squad step in to defuse the device. Speaking of defusing things, a woman whom Delko (Adam Rodriguez) tried to protect in a domestic abuse case slaps him with a lawsuit.

Now, Voyager TCM 8:00 pm ET
Bette Davis found one of her most rewarding roles in this 1942 adaptation of Olive Higgins Prouty's novel about a Boston spinster who escapes her suffocating mother (Gladys Cooper) to find a measure of happiness with an unhappily married man (Paul Henreid). Max Steiner's radiant musical score won an Academy Award; both Davis and Cooper were nominated. Claude Rains and Bonita Granville co-star.
-
Saving Private Ryan TNT 8:00 pm ET
Steven Spielberg won the best director Oscar for this 1998 World War II drama, whose opening portrayal of the Normandy invasion is one of the most powerful war sequences in movie history. Tom Hanks stars as the captain in charge of a platoon assigned to go behind enemy lines and retrieve a private (Matt Damon) whose three brothers have all been killed. Edward Burns and Giovanni Ribisi also star.
-
Raiders of the Lost Ark USA 8:27 pm ET
In the snake-riddled 1981 movie that started the "Indiana Jones" saga, Harrison Ford plays the romancing, swashbuckling hero who fights the Nazis in an attempt to procure the most important archaeological find in all of history: the Ark of the Covenant. Karen Allen co-stars as the alcohol-swilling love interest.
-
Law & Order: Criminal Intent NBC 9:00 pm ET
Have the Major Case Squad and the Special Victims Unit been trading cases again? A threesome involving a writer, a blonde and a brunette ends in the blonde's death. When Logan and Falacci (Chris Noth, Alicia Witt) are called in to investigate, their only clue to the identity of the woman is a pair of emerald earrings. Eric Bogosian also stars in "Lonelyville."
-
Mom, Dad and Her LIFE 9:00 pm ET
Teenage girl hates her stepmother. Wow, that's original. Brittney Wilson ("Johnny Test") is the "me" of this new drama, a troubled teen sent to stay with her father and his new, pregnant wife (Melora Hardin, "The Office") for the summer. She finds this about as appealing as a root canal without anesthetic, but she eventually comes around. In other words, nothing much interesting happens.

Braveheart HBOE 9:30 pm ET
Director and star Mel Gibson preceded James Cameron ("Titanic") as king of the Oscars with his five-statuette sweep for this 1995 drama. In addition to the coveted best picture and best director trophies, it also won awards for makeup, sound-effects editing and cinematography. Gibson plays 13th-century Scottish warrior William Wallace, who rallies his countrymen against the British monarch Edward I (Patrick McGoohan). Sophie Marceau and Catherine McCormack also star.

Law & Order NBC 10:00 pm ET
The mad bomber has lousy aim. In "Misbegotten," a package bomb injures a security guard, and Green and Lupo (Jesse L. Martin, Jeremy Sisto) suspect a connection to a scientist working in the building. When they learn that the guard, who was pregnant, was one of his guinea pigs, Cutter and Rubirosa (Linus Roache, Alana De La Garza) suspect a relative of hers is behind the bombing ... and that she wasn't the target.
